Looking After Your Surgical Scar
Two weeks after surgery your scar should be healing, but it can take from six weeks to three months before you’re fully healed. There are some things you can do during the healing process to prevent an abnormal scar forming and improve the appearance of your scar:
Massaging your scar is an important part of your treatment regime. Remember to do a ‘dry massage’ before applying any moisturiser or silicone gel.
Avoid too much exposure to the sun. Scar tissue is very sensitive, this makes it very easy for scars to get sunburnt.
Extremes of temperature can make itchy scars worse, particularly heat so avoid very hot baths or showers.

Yes, KELO-COTE® is suitable for use on children from 3 months of age (Gel & UV 3 months+, Spray 12 months+).
The recommended minimum treatment time for KELO-COTE® is 60 to 90 days. If you continue to see improvement at the end of the 90 days you can continue treating your scar. For older scars it is likely that you will need to continue for longer than 90 days.
KELO-COTE® Scar Gel UV has added SPF 30 to help protect scars from the aggravating effects of the sun. It is important to reapply sun protection to the scar.
